Public Health

Scientific evidence has linked EMF exposure with depression, anxiety, brain tumors, blood-brain barrier permeability, cardiac effects, cognitive changes,  impaired functioning in children, DNA damage, infertility, memory, learning & behavioural problems, cancer and more.

Who Is Most At Risk?

Our Children

Full body low level RF radiation exposures, for significant periods of time can also have a serious cumulative effect on the developing body of a child.

From 2015-2017 the 3rd leading cause of death in Australian children between the ages of 1-14 was brain cancer while the 5th leading cause of death was Leukemia, both of which are linked to EMR exposure. IARC Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation

Clearly, we, as a community, need to take greater precaution when exposing children to W.H.O-admitted carcinogens, such as wireless RF emissions.

Children today have an unprecedented exposure that is higher than that experienced any generation before them and they have been shown to absorb more radiation than adults. It is imperative that our leaders protect the quality of life experienced by the next generation and those that follow.

There is evidence that genetic damage caused by exposure within current guidelines may not only damage the exposed child, but also their offspring.

Pregnant Women

UCLA researchers (Divan, et al 2008) studied 13,000 mothers and children and found that prenatal exposure to cell phones was associated with a higher risk for behavioral problems and hyperactivity in children. Scientists continue to conduct research on the human impact of wireless radiation exposure.

A study (Aldad, et al 2012) conducted at Yale University found that pregnant laboratory mice exposed to ordinary cell phone radiation produced offspring that were more hyperactive and had poorer memories compared to a control group that was not exposed. Dr. Hugh Taylor, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine and his team of researchers concluded that cell phone radiation had damaged neurons in the prefrontal cortex of the brain.

Dr. De-Kun Li’s 2018 prospective study of over 900 pregnant women showed a 3 fold increase in miscarriage rates with higher levels of everyday radio-frequency radiation exposure.

More than two hundred physicians, scientists and public health professionals from around the world have joined together to express their concern about the risk that wireless radiation poses to pregnancy and urge pregnant women to limit their exposures. Electro-Hypersensitivity

Those with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) are another vulnerable group, and some children also have EHS making them additionally at risk. EHS is a multisystemic physical condition hallmarked by classical symptom constellations (such as headaches, insomnia, mood disturbance, palpitations etc), in response to (man made)electromagnetic fields. Learn more.

The condition has been documented in various forms since the birth of the use of electromagnetic fields by man, back in the early 1900s. Increased exposures associated with rapidly evolving emitting technologies, are leading to an ever-growing number of complaints from those who have identified electromagnetic fields as the source of their problems and also increases in reports of the cardinal symptoms in the general population, who may not realise that EMR may be the cause of their complaints.

Carcinogenic Potential

The World Health Organisation’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) radio frequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B), based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer, associated with wireless phone use.

Extremely low-frequency magnetic fields are also classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B) based on studies that have linked 300-400nT with doubling the chance of childhood leukemia. IARC Summary of Data Reported and Evaluation

Well known researchers, Dr. Lennart Hardell and Michael Carlberg published a thorough examination of the NTP study results in the October 2018 issue of The International Journal of Oncology. They stated , “We conclude that there is clear evidence that RF radiation is a human carcinogen, causing glioma and vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma). There is some evidence of an increased risk of developing thyroid cancer, and clear evidence that RF radiation is a multi‑site carcinogen. Based on the Preamble to the IARC Monographs, RF radiation should be classified as carcinogenic to humans, Group 1.”  Their 2018 article “Comments on the US National Toxicology Program technical reports...” is here https://www.spandidos-publications.com/10.3892/ijo.2018.4606

Do You Experience Any of The Following Symptoms?

Headaches

Opening of the Blood-brain barrier, effects on the dopamine-opiate systems of the brain, and blood cell clumping contributing to the onset of chronic and acute headaches and migrains. See References

Sleep Disturbances & Fatigue

Exposure to EMF can cause insomnia. It impairs our bodies ability to produce melatonin, affecting our circadian rhythms. Only 3 hours of exposure prolongs latency to reach 1st deep sleep cycle, and decreases Stage 4 sleep.

Tinnitus - Ringing In Ears

This is commonly experienced by even mild EHS sufferers. A study at the University of Vienna (Hans-Peter Hutter et al, 2010) found that risk of tinnitus increased with years of cell phone use. Researchers have hypothesised that this is due to an over activated cortical distress network.

Heart Arrhythmia

If you have a heart pacemaker, you can be adversely affected. But twitch muscle fibers in your heart are also electrically sensitive, and EMF can act like a mild remote defibrillator, causing  palpitations and tachycardia. Don’t hold your cell or cordless home phone near your chest or heart!

Neurological Effects - Anxiety or Depression

EMF Affects blood levels of serotonin in participants within 300m of a cell site. See References

Memory Loss Difficulties & Brain Fog

Reduced synaptic activity in hippocampus neurons; Memory loss and neuronal death observed in rats. See References

Hypertension (High Blood pressure)

Found in double-blind studies (see Devra Davis’ book Disconnect)

Burning or Tingling Sensations

Does your ear/temple heat up using a mobile phone? Does the wireless mouse cause your hand to warm. Do titanium plates in any  part of your body react to EMF?

There is strong evidence that long-term exposure to certain EMFs is a risk factor for diseases such as certain cancers, Alzheimer's disease, and male infertility…Common EHS (electromagnetic hypersensitivity) symptoms include headaches, concentration difficulties, sleep problems, depression, lack of energy, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms.

The fetus is perhaps the most vulnerable to these types of environmental insults. When the brain is just forming, when all of the organ systems are just beginning to develop, that's when we are perhaps at our most vulnerable stage.

The Truth About Wireless Radiation

The NTP Studies

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) Chronic Carcinogenicity Studies of Cell Phone Radiofrequency Radiation are the most comprehensive, carefully done research performed to date on the long term effects of radio frequency radiation from wireless devices such as cell phones.

This 10 year $25 million dollar study by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences was completed and peer reviewed March 26-28, 2018 in North Carolina. The animal research looked at long term, non-thermal exposure to radio frequency (RF)  cell phone radiation.  The series of studies demonstrated positive findings (adverse effects) as follows:

  • A statistically significant increase in tumors of the heart (schwannomas), brain (malignant gliomas) and  adrenal gland (pheochromocytomas)
  • Increases in other organ tumors compared to controls (not statistically significant but noteworthy) for pancreas, prostate, pituitary, liver and lung
  • DNA damage in rodents
  • Cardiomyopathy similar to aging
  • Adverse perinatal effects in some groups
