Seen ADHD is a telehealth service providing online ADHD assessment, diagnosis and treatment through a multidisciplinary Australian team of registered psychologists, psychiatrists and GPs. This page explains what our service does and does not do, so you can make an informed decision.

The information on this website is general in nature. It is not personal medical advice and should not be used as a substitute for advice from a qualified health practitioner who knows your individual circumstances.

This is a template and should be reviewed by a qualified clinician and a legal advisor before publication.

Who provides your care

Our service is delivered by a multidisciplinary team. Registered psychologists lead the in-depth ADHD assessment; psychiatrists, who are registered medical practitioners, confirm diagnosis and look after treatment, including medication where it is clinically appropriate; and your GP is involved in referrals and ongoing shared care.

All of this is delivered by telehealth — that is, by secure video consultation — rather than in person. Care is provided by clinicians registered to practise in Australia.

We do not guarantee a diagnosis

Booking an assessment, completing our enquiry form, or paying for a package does not guarantee an ADHD diagnosis. An assessment is a careful process of gathering and reviewing information.

Not everyone who is assessed will meet the criteria for ADHD. That is a normal and valid outcome of a thorough assessment.

We do not guarantee medication

Our service does not guarantee that you will be prescribed medication, and we do not offer fast, easy, same-day or guaranteed access to medication.

Where a diagnosis is made, treatment — which your psychiatrist may discuss with you where it is clinically appropriate — is a clinical decision made by a medical practitioner after a proper assessment and review. It is based on their own clinical judgement, not on enquiring or booking.

The prescribing of ADHD medicines is regulated in Australia and is often managed in shared care with your GP over time. We do not provide ongoing scripts on demand. Treatment decisions are made by your psychiatrist, with your GP involved where appropriate, through proper medical review.

An assessment may identify other explanations

ADHD shares features with a range of other conditions and life circumstances. A thorough assessment may identify other explanations for your experiences, or factors that are contributing alongside or instead of ADHD.

If that happens, your psychologist and psychiatrist will explain what was found in plain language and outline practical next steps so you understand your options.

Telehealth has limits, and some situations need a different approach

Telehealth suits ADHD assessment, diagnosis and ongoing care well, but it is not appropriate for every person or every situation. Your clinician may decide that your circumstances need an in-person review, additional investigations, or referral to another service, and will tell you honestly if so.

More complex presentations may require review by another specialist. In those cases, an onward referral may be recommended so you can receive the right care. Recommending a referral is part of responsible care — it means we are matching you to the support your situation needs, rather than promising an outcome we cannot deliver.

This is not a crisis or emergency service

Seen ADHD is not an emergency or crisis service and cannot provide urgent or after-hours support. Please do not use this website or our enquiry form if you need immediate help.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or it is a medical emergency, call 000 (Triple Zero) now.

For mental health support and crisis counselling, you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, or 13YARN on 13 92 76 for support designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. These services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
